My name is Win Smith and I am the Sales & Marketing Manager for Winvian. We noticed this blog a little while ago and I wanted to provide some insight as well as accessibility for you. Winvian is a a fairly new property, we are about 2.5 years old and offer something very unique from a design and quality standpoint. My family has owned the land for 62 years, but we only just recently created this as a hotel property.
I know some of you are not sure how some our design works from a form and function standpoint but I can assure that each cottage is well appointed with comforts and amenities. The major difference is the design and motif of each since they are supposed to reflect CT in some way; they range from a Log Cabin to a Treehouse, but for the most part there is a familiarity and authenticity of design that our guests love. What we have are options to create a very unique and personalized experience. Some may not like the idea of a 1968 Sikorsky Sea King Pelican in their room, but since we have 19 accommodations we find that there is something for everyone. That is key!
As far as the comments on service, I believe that we have bettered ourselves and have a good management team in place. We have shuffled a few people around and restructured to button up old services critiques; some of it is growing pains but I don't want to hide behind any excuses. We have a dedicated group of individuals and have thinned out those who did not match our standards, so I hope you won't completely discredit us going forward.
Our Restaurant has a very talented team and we offer fine dining and a wonderful selection of seasonal, organic products. The Restaurant is open via reservations in case you want to "test" our product you can without having to stay overnight!
Our Spa also features a wonderful team and offer a large selection of treatments in a unique and natural setting. Our couples massage room features vaulted ceilings and a wood burning fireplace....it is a real treat.
Please note that both Spa & Restaurant are open to the public via reservation, so you don't have to spend the night to enjoy Winvian!
Most importantly we have reduced pricing and are operating with promotional rates and have implemented a la Carte pricing as well. Should you like to learn more about Winvian or join me personally on property for a site tour, please just email me at:

Please have a very Happy New Year!
