Hmm.
Today we will have even more pork tenderloin (did you know the Costco 2-pack is really a 4-pack?) and turkey (did you know a 10-pounder goes a long way when served with several tenderloins?) more green beans, and the rolls we forgot on Christmas. Thank heavens the pumpkin pie is gone and the Charles chocolates are still here.
Christmas recap:
Eve: Two trips to the airport (4x35 miles). Nice cheeses I don't remember, grilled pork tenderloins: one chipotle-lime marinated and one apple brined, roast turkey, steamed baby red potatoes, haricot vert with butter and shallots, pumpkin pie. Blanton's and some kind of special Jack followed by some really nice wines from Woodinville. Forgot: champagne, gravy and French rolls. Learned: brine is the way to go, whiskey is not always my friend.
Morn: Some hiked up
Iron Mountain, others began eating early. Cappuchinos, espressos, ham-Irish cheddar-fresh herb fritatta, sheepherder bread, forgotten rolls, turkey and tenderloin, BLT's, sliced apples, more pumpkin pie. Learned: there is cell reception on Iron Mountain, those Costco pies are huge and I still don't like pumpkin in a pie.
Dinner: at my sister's, 2 miles from the airport. Nice array of scotch and wine, boring cheese/crackers. Very nice turkey, asparagus, mashed potatoes, opaque green jello, nice cranberry stuffing in the turkey, usual gravy from a jar, Bavarian chocolate cake with cherries and whipped cream and the wonderful multi-layer Italian cream cake. Watery Mr. Coffee. One trip to the airport. Learned: niece's husband can really cook, which is great because no one else in the family can. He brought his own turkey tent, roasting pan and knives. And I'm guessing the asparagus.
