OK, With a lots of time left before my flight, I just went down to see the gates, and everything looks really top notch. There is secondary screening at each of the gates, and there appears to be very little queue - max 10 minute wait. I think there were more CATSA agents than there were passengers. Things are looking good.

Also, people were carrying more than one carry on and rollers, and they were not turned away by the CATSA agent.

Very normal to report here....

More update. Went through secondary screening at the gate after the ML lounge and it was painless. Less than 5 minute wait -there are two lines: one for men and the other for women (they have different screeners for the sexes). You are assigned to a table - there's one CATSA person who searches your bag and then there's another person who does body search. It looks like they brought additional help as there were several RCMP officers who were doing body checks.

All in all a great experience and very civilized. It seemed that the extra personnel really helped.
