I don't get why the OP would use the bride's married name for the hold. Doesn't matter whether she's changing her name or not. Even if she was changing her name, there would be no freaking way she could get a new driver's license, passport ANYTHING two days after getting married. Assuming she's getting married on the traditional Saturday, she's flying out on a Monday (which is what I did).

How does a frequent flier make such a bone-headed common mistake and then not at least bear *some* financial responsibility for said mistake? In this case, whether she changes her name or not is immaterial. The point is she's flying two days after getting married and she won't have the needed official documents.
well the "bone head" mistake i made was just that... A MISTAKE. i was told it's a courtesy hold so i, not being that experienced but just trying to help, put a temporary name for the courtesy hold. I "believed" that when they called to book they could update any info. sorry. i guess you should berate me on this thread since i already admitted it was a mistake. can i possibly apologize any more?

financial burden? well since they were about to pay for the trip and my research and help has gotten them a flight, that on orbitz is $7500 a person, for practically nothing. so whoops... they pay a restock fee. they are still paying way below what even a coach ticket would be. they are perfectly happy to cover the fee and really appreciate the help.

My guilt and worry is about fixing the problem which comes out of my time and commitment to figuring out how to do that. That is my responsibility. I search every day for new inventory to see if we can book that, cancel her's and rebook.

i really don't think your reprimand is necessary. your help would be appreciated though. thanks.
