I have never seen once NH11 leaves from B16 or B17 since NH comes back to this route.
Whenever I am flying out of ORD, I always walk around to do plane spotting, mind you I am based in ORD. You are probably confused with IAD, as in IAD, NH 1 do depart from B gate.
B16 and B17 in the morning always occupy by UA1 and UA3 (10am), as both are 777, they needed the space. ANd then over the C gates, C16, C18, C20, two of those are occupied by UA835 (10:30am) and UA769 (10am), one is a 747, the other is a 777.
C10 basically is assigned for NH11 (11am) to use, just like B16/B17 are assigned for LH, never changed. As they have to put up all the signs around the gate, once the flight leaves, all signs are taken down back for another UA flight, they are not going to carry those heavy signs back and fourth between B and C.
