Just travelled MCO-YYZ-YVR yesterday on AC. Flight form YYZ to MCO was 3 hrs late getting in due to the added security at YYZ, similar stry for flights inbound to MCO from YUL and Ottawa. There was no additional security screening in MCO, we had the maximum carry on between 3 of us ( ie no 1 item limitation) and no restrictions on not leaving seats one hour before landing. Seems like the US Homeland Security and TSA thinks that terrorist attacks only originate outside the US, they forget that the 9/11 attacks originated from flights departing US airports. For YYZ - YVR there were no restrictions, rules were just as before the latest attempt on 12/25.
Now if only AC was upfront about delays - I called in to check if there were any delays (thinking weather delays on flight into MCO) and was told it was delayed 30 minutes. Get to the airport about 30 minutes later and it is now 3 hours, and the AC staff at the gate went into hiding until about 15 minutes (it was only then we learned of the 3 hour delay) after the original departure time and were absolutely no help at all. I had to call AC reservatons just to get the rebooking process started myself for the YYZ to YVR leg to get confirmed sets for a later flight, though fortunately AC did an equipment chage on an earlier flight and we were rebooked on that on arriving in YYZ. Got to say the AC staff in YYZ did a good job rebooking people on arrival.
Westjet and SunWings were having similar delays in MCO, but definitely the Westjet staff did not go into hiding.
