I have never seen any thing special during Christian new year but there is usually something during the Chinese new year. I flew SGN-NRT during Chinese new year several times in C and JAL passed out a small box of mementos. Just some trinkets of the Chinese zodiac and a little piece of paper full of good wishes in multiple languages. I am doing JFK-NRT on Jan 1st, 2010, and I am not expecting anything special.
