As noted by HNL, you did arrive at SNA, so I'm not sure that you have yet had an experience at a curfew airport.
I have had numerous curfew experiences at LGA. The midnight curfew is routinely extended for known delays. If the airport is indeed closed, we land at JFK. It's not fun, but it's part of frequent flying. Stuff happens.
