23:00 / 11 PM Curfew at SNA - diversions to ONT or...
We came in from DFW last night on AA1747. We were about 1/2 hour late taking off for SNA. PAX seemed to be allowed to straggle onto the plane to their seats at a very leisurely rate. There was a group of about 14 who seemed to be traveling together, stopping to chat as they stowed their belongings in the bins. We made up some time and landed at John Wayne and pulled up to the gate at about 10:55 pm. There were two guards in the empty hall as we came off the plane and it was obvious that we had to get right on that down escalator to baggage or restrooms. We had no seen the terriorist headlines. We couldn't stop thinking of Ontario as SNA is one of those airports with a curfew. If you can't make it by 11 pm you land at Ontario, CA. and are bussed for about 1 1/2 to John Wayne. Is anyone familiar with this flight? Do they cut it this close often? Our pilot, in a leather bomber jacket appeared to be a bit of a jockey. He took that plane out fast to take off position. There was less traffic at almost 10 pm, of course. I suppose that most PAX visiting the OC would not be aware of that curfew. What other experiences has anyone had like this at curfew airports?
