I think you have to quite brave to go an in-flight haircut. Could get messy during turbulence. (In actuality, it would not be allowed for security reasons)
I've taken my clippers in carryon so that should not be a security issue; razor cut could be more of an issue for the secuity theater goons - though personally I'd be more concerned by the turbulence aspect (I've alwasy wondered the old sailing ship movies with the captain's valet shaving him in heavy seas; wonder what the mortaility rate from shaving acidents was back then....)
But I'd not worry about getting my #3 clipper cut in the air
