I was on DFW-NRT in F earlier this month. Both the Western and Japanese menus had three entree choices. One of the Western choices was a Japanese entree, and one of the Japanese entrees was a Western entree. So, this allowed someone to get a mostly western-style meal as far as the salad and dessert went, but have a Japanese entree. Interesting.
