We are sooooo excited about Mardi Gras. Had such an amazing time last year we just had to go back (the australians are just so friendly ). The new format stumped us initially but now really like the idea - loads more party options. We fly in on the 26th Feb and then transfer down to Melbourne on Sun 7th March for a week (means we miss ToyBox but after a full week I think we will be done in). We went up to Byron last year but thought it was time to try something diff. We joined mardi gras as international members - makes financial sense and gets you fast track access to parties and members areas....Yes some of the parties get busy but the friendliness of everyone - locals and visitors alike make up for any downsides...

We are going party mad this time.... parade, parade after party, harbour party, pool party, beach party, main party etc etc..... always open to any tips from more regular visitors....

Have rented an apartment this time... makes more sense when you are there for a week.... and it comes with a private hot tub too .....
