I've had the buyers assurance pay to fix a monitor. They required that I fax them a copy of my repair bill and they rather promptly issued a check. The other time I called them was about a problem with a $400 cordless phone system. On the telephone they said that they would contact me about my claim. They extended the warranty 1 year past the manufacturer's 1 year warranty and this was one day before their 1 warranty period expired. A week or two later I received a check for the original purchase amount. I never had to fill out *any* paperwork.
I have to say that I am quite happy with the buyers assurance benefits.
