A few months ago i got a call to upgrade from a Gold Amex Delta card to a Platinum. Being familiar with the details of getting miles I have always waited to see if there would be a better deal than the standard 5000 miles upgrade from moving up to Platinum.

This time i was told I would get 5000 standard and 5000 medallion miles for upgrading. i questioned this 3 times and explained that i hade a gold card and usually they only give you 5000 for a one level upgrade. i was told i would indeed get 10,000 total miles.

Log story short i was told later i would not get them. So, I wrote this long letter to amex explaining what happened, then reverted back to a gold card to avoid the fee for the platinum.

Anyway, I got 5000 delta miles put in my account for upgrading, even though i do not infact have the platinum card.

Does anyone think they will eventually take these away? if i upgrade in the future will I have a chance to get the miles again or will they see my account and tell me I got'em already?

just wondering if i am all done with amex upgrading.
