Just a quick note that I got my UK Identity card today.
I thought I'd get one just a sheer punt and it came today via special courier. For those interested it's £30 and you go for your biometrics appointment in Manchester at a rather nondescript building just off Picadilly Gardens. As long as you have a full UK passport it takes no time at all to get one and is a straightforward process. At the minute only North west peeps can go. The interview is a 2 stage process where they check documents and input the data and then a second stage where they get fingerprints, photo and a signature and ask you for security questions.
Anyways for those who didn't know the ID card is considered a travel document for within the EU and I was wondering if anyone had travelled on one yet as there was some news reports about lack of staff training about this fact and people being incorrectly refused travel. Just curious if BA's sent out the update to check-in staff. Nice to have a credit card sized travel documnt now

.
If anyones got any questions about the application process or whatever just ask
