Canadians going Sterile!
Sorry, couldn't resist the headline, but... The feds are to announce today, according to the Globe and Mail, that more airports will provide sterile facilities to handle in transit passengers between U.S. and international flights [and vice versa]. No details of which terminals will be included, in addition to YVR which is the only place in Canada this can currently be done. Nor when this would be introduced elsewhere.
I suspect that YEG and YYC could handle this now, with only minor modifications to the internal layouts, if any. YHZ is a likely site also, being a mini-hub in place of BOS for the U.S. northeast. And YUL should have the capability with the modifications added out of the wind down of Mirabel. Even YYZ could operate special airside shuttles between T1 and T2/T3, and internal pathways at T3 would help connections in a similar fashion among carriers sharing that facility.
