Because if you fly paid business class all the time, there really aren't any perks to be enjoyed, particularly with DL. For people who are flying 300k per year in business class, lounge/upgrades are irrelevant. And at some point the miles you are earning with this kind of flying become almost irrelevant, so venturing out to another plan where you can earn some miles really starts to make sense.
