Irrespective of specifically how AA handled the event, I remain eternally perplexed by the manner in which seemingly adult human beings will act... and then rationalize it as the "ends justifying the means."

I also continue to be mystified by the "anxiety" some people seem to manufacture at the idea of not sitting together on an airplane. Do I prefer to sit with my significant other if circumstances allow? Of course, but not at the cost of an international incident...
