Unfortunately, none of the Amex cards are good for small business, because they do not allow you to set per-employee charging limits; Every employee with a company Amex card has access to the full credit limit of the card. I would love to have my employees use Amex cards for their business expenses, but it would just not be responsible to give a lower-level employee access to the same charging limits as a senior company officer. As a result, we issue company Visa cards, where we can set individual monthly credit limits that are related to the employee's individual charging needs.</font>
Anyone have additional feedback on the Amex cards? I am deep in the decision making process this week in terms of obtaining a new Business card.
The Open network Amex gold does indeed offer the first year free...but as I mentioned in an earlier post, Amex does not report payment history to D&B but to the authorizing officers personal credit. This does no good for small businesses that need every bit of positive tradeline on their D&B that they can get.
The fact that you cannot set spending limits per card/employee is not a big deal with our business so any other feedback on the various Amex OPEN NETWORK products would be useful.
Thanks
