You will get a total of two free checked bags. One or both can belong to your spouse, but the benefit is yours and does not extend to your companion (unless, a companion upgrade comes through before checkin -- but that benefit is currently not working and should come back in spring 2010)
You sure about that? I'm SM and my wife (with no status) is booked on my PNR for a flight through CVG tomorrow afternoon. Checking in today online, it absolutely showed that we could each get 2 free bags, and we're both on the upgrade standby list (#2 and #3 of 3, 7 seats available).

Our return trip is NWA through DTW, but I doubt that makes a difference for this leg.
