I should also add that '5 days to link' is one of the reasons that at least Delta gives you a 14 day hold on an award reservation before you need to ticket. Even with 5 days to link, and maybe another 5 to transfer, that should still give enough time to get the MR points over to the FF account in order to redeem for the ticket.
