Actually QF has offered fares ex-LHR that are even lower than this -- and available for anyone to purchase. I've heard of GBP 3000 for F on QF LHR-SYD, and there was a cricket fare as a promotion that was based on the cricket score (think it was about AUD 200 LHR-SYD). So there is ample precedent for QF selling seats at even
lower fares than this -- so there cannot be a defence of "clearly this fare was an error and the purchaser knew it" when such fares were widely offered in 2009.
