I wish I knew. It's happened on multiple airlines and from multiple places, so it's not just one wacky computer. I had to laugh, though, when I went to the counter at JAN on an incoming NW flight and told the staff member that my bag didn't show up on the belt.
They had the baggage office at JAX on speed dial.
