Looks like another significant winter storm is taking shape, with the potential for significant snow in the upper Mississippi River valley Weds/Thu, and freezing rain/sleet at O'Hare. A winter storm watch is already in effect for Eastern Colorado (just barely to the east of Denver) and also much of KS and NE from Tuesday night through Wednesday. I would not be surpirsed if various types of winter weather warnings are posted later today (for Weds-Thu) for areas to the east and northeast of that . . . i.e., extending into the more populous parts of the Midwest.
I am flying through ORD this Wednesday evening and right now weather forecasts call for sleet and freezing rain, just about the worst condition possible for an airplane. I too really hope UA can issue a waiver soon so I can take action earlier.
