You are correct. I was wrong and just confirmed it online with an award reservation (with 2 pax) that I already hold. Best case, the OP will pay $100 to cancel in February (as a Plat). He'll get two free and pay $50 for the other two. In March it will cost $400.

A shameful ripoff in either case. Probably best to wait until March to book the tickets when he'll know for sure about his schedule. The risk, of course, is that the low mileage tickets will no longer be available.
