I'm fat. I require an extension on most aircraft.

I have never - on any airline - been allowed to remain in an exit row once I ask for an extension. The FAs were always nice about it, but I don't even try and book exit row now, though since I am also tall, it would be more comfortable.

However, assuming no broken limbs, I would have no physical difficulties opening the door and getting out in an emergency.
