Faculty ID vs. Student ID

I bet most college IDs are government-issued.

I don't think so.

Two of my state university IDs are definitely not issued by governments. I got my student IDs from Student ID Center on campus. My photos were taken by university staff/work-study student. As far as I know, none of the government infrastructure includes state/federal colleges/universities.

Since your faculty ID is processed by a LEO, I assume you are considered employed by state/federal governments and had gone through security check/clearance before the employment. Faculty application forms are different from students' application. Students don't go through the same process as faculty.
