I am planning an ex-CGK DONE3, which I will probably book through the AA RTW desk. I have been looking at the options, and it seems that I will probably need to pay in Indonesia. However, I was looking at the Explorer Fare Technical Rule Sheet, specifically rule 15, which says:
'When travel originates om a country for which a specific local currency fares is published and the ticket is sold in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted to the currency of the country of sale at the bank selling rate. The resultant fare must not be lower than from the country of sale'.
Now this raises a question for me because, it would seem to suggest that I could purchase my ex-CGK DONE3 in Australia at the Indonesia rate converted to AUD at the bank selling rate. I say this because there is no similar fare (xONE3) sold in Australia.
Has anyone tried this, or have any thoughts on my interpretation?
Thanks

It then raises the possibility of buying an AONE3 in Australia for an ex-cheaper country price and then at some later point after travel has commenced reissuing it as an AONE6 for example saving a motza.
I'm in SYD next week on a short side-trip from MNL on a DONE3. Unless anyone sees any problem in trying this, I'll certainly try for an AONE3 exTLV when I'm in SYD.
