ORD-PHL-LHR - Didn't have enough fuel to Depart?

In June, I was on a flight from ORD - PHL for a tight (3 hour) connection to LHR. Needless to say, missed the connection because, after pushback from the gate at ORD, waited too long on the ground, then right after clearance to hold short of active runway, the crew decided there was not enough fuel to get to PHL.

Went back to an open gate and waited on the plane for over two hours for fuel and paperwork (CRJ - should take less than 20 minutes to fuel). Got fuel and departed for PHL.

Arrived in PHL 3 1/2 hours late and missed LHR connection - Was given no consideration for another airline (BA was boarding).

Had to buy a coach one way seat because I had connections the next day to RIGA.

US said no / nada / nothing - wouldn't pay for the ticket as it was not a mechanical issue.
