I have been on UA F before. The old seats are inferior to the LH seats. The new seats (on some 747) are much better, but still fairly small and cramped (they put 12 seats in the nose of the 747 instead of 14 before, but most airlines like CX and others go from 12 to around 9 now). They have a bit better privacy than the LH seats.
But no FCL/FCT on UA, food is more like business class food on bigger plates, no cappuchino, not the what kind of tea do you like (they have only one) and often an grumpy, unmotivated crew close to or behind retirement age. You can get a great FA on United and a bad one on LH, but both is rare.
Also if things go wrong (delays, snow, lost luggage...) you are likely more save to take a flight directly to the final destination. One less connection which can go wrong.
