Miles card n00b here--sorry if this question seems elementary, but--

I recently signed up for the M+ Visa Signature card (the one with the 30,000-mile first-purchase bonus). Assuming approval, will the miles I earn using the card simply show up in my mileage summary on the United site (just like miles earned for flights) or will I need to use some other means to find out whether my Visa miles are being added to my account?
