This was more of an issue when I first opened my Diners account as well as a student green AMEX years and years ago. I haven't had to think about this in a while, but I do remember what a huge pain in the ... they (the charge-card companies) can make it.

For what it's worth, my designated contact on file with AMEX received a call in February of this year to update my banking information. I honestly don't believe they clean out their files. They had current banking information on file, but somehow they also had a savings account on file that was opened by my grandmother when I was a kid. It was closed over 10 years ago!

Another quirk to this loc logic is that while AMEX has used any variety of information to cook their magic numbers (income, daily average balances in bank accounts, spending patterns, etc.) they also seem to factor in WHY the charges are being made. For example, many of my charges are passed on to a client as an expense, so looking at my personal income alone wouldn't deliver the whole picture. Of course, being self-employed always throws financial types into an endless swirl.

Now you've got me thinking...Centurions are supposed to have the mythical endless spending privilege, but there has to be a limit on file for everyone, right? Is there a direct way to find out what this is? Now I'm just curious...
