What an uncomfortable experience. Travelling, particularly with children, is increasingly dificult and shelling out for a premium cabin is supposed to make it easier, not worse. Poor you. I think I would have complained about the crew and especially the CSD, not in the expectation of receiving anything but just to make the point.

My observations are that every good crew and associated flight experience is increasingly matched by a poor one, wherever one is sat on the plane. This is the crux of the problem with BA at present.

I am not unsympathetic to crew concerns that they are being asked to dole out an inferior service; and that what might to the bean counters seem like insignificant cuts are, bit by bit, taking their toll on the quality and value of the product. The trouble is that an increasing number of staff - as in the OPs experience - just don't seem to care and find it easier to (presumably) complain about management and cuts than to try to get on with job which, it hardly needs stating, they are at liberty to leave any time they wish. Ultimately they are undermining their own positions, letting down the good staff and hastening the decline of BA standards (cf strike action).

Take your business elsewhere and then write to BA and let them know why.
