Six hours might be cutting it close for Tokyo. Ten hours would be better.
For an unhurried trip out of the airport, I suggest the city of Narita, especially for someone who has never been to Japan before.
The temple provides pleasant, wooded grounds to relax in as well as fairly typical temple buildings. There are all the shops and restaurants typical of a Japanese city, many of them tourist-friendly, given the number of airline personnel who frequent the area.
Take a 250-yen ride on a non-express train to Keisei Narita, pick up a map, walk to the temple one way and back another way. The sunlight will help you get over your jet lag, and you'll see daily life in Japan up close.
