hmm, I've never heard of this higher of two routing rule. For a saver award in Y, would it be less miles to go NA->N. Asia via Hawaii?

NA to Hawaii 40K miles and Hawaii to N. Asia is 50K miles. So the higher of two routings would be 50K, which is less than the normal 65K for NA->N. Asia direct. Is this right? Am I understanding this correctly?
