Welcome to FT, Marlene!

I have flown in 6 and 10 seater planes in different positions, even next to the pilot who allowed me to make some turns when I was only 12 years old. The other passengers weren't terribly happy about this educational experience.

It doesn't really make a difference in terms of turbulence or anything. If you sit next to the pilot you see what's going on and that might make you feel more in control which may help cope with the fear. On the other hand from a safety standpoint the seats at the back of the plane (any plane) have a higher chance of survival but you probably don't want to think about that.
