You're right about the exchange rate, I did notice it was quite high ($1.64!) but I had never noticed the seperate fee for commission. Your post would explain this.
There is a way to reduce the CC fee on BA.com, if you search on here you will find it. BA dont charge on rewards either, but this will probably get enhanced.
