The toll increases happen on the cash tolls as well as the electronic tolls, though. The comparison is looking at roads that have electronic tolls vs. roads that don't, not the cash lanes vs. the electronic lanes of the same road. So if you're traveling that road anyway, you have the choice of either waiting in the cash lane or not waiting in the EZ-Pass lane. Add that to the fact that the tolls in the EZ-Pass lane are sometimes cheaper than the cash lane, and the case for avoiding EZ-Pass becomes even more mystifying.
