Surely the hospital would follow the lead of other good employers <cough BA> and provide say a bus. Kind of like the free BA crew bus that shuttles crew between the outstation airports and the crew hotels where the crew are looked after at BA's expense and all their "reasonable" expenses are billed to BA. Separate from the allowances.

I'm sure a search could find it, but there was a recent post discussing how just the allowance earned by a BA CC on a NRT trip was greater than a month's pay on other major carriers. No wonder the unions are so afraid to see the full package that these CC earn being widely discussed.
