My experience from trying to book a *A trip to KTM using UA miles. UA says TG does not avail award seats BKK-KTM route. (This may be true or StarNet blocking - see UA forum). In any case, the flights on this route were not particularly cheap, so the mileage option was something to consider. It is still possible through Air China *A award, but if I recall it was limited availability and/or required an overnight in Chengdu.
