Yes. My understanding is that it was a design defect in the first QC2s, i.e. the ones with gold-color earcups, as opposed to the later silver-color earcup QC2s. As least a couple of years ago, Bose would replace them free, even if out of warranty. However, I'd recommend you pony up $150 and move to the new QC15s -- pretty much the same physical design and appearance, but better audio and much better noise cancellation.
