I would LIKE to be happy with my Plat Amex, I think it is a genuinely good product and a market leader. It is just in the last year or so they seem determined to erode the benefits whilst increasing the fees.

I have been one of the critics of the card in this forum, but that is out of frustration rather than malice. I am currently in a seemingly pointless exchange of correspondence with a customer services rep whose attitude is 'we are the best because we have always been the best - and plat cards are value for money because I say they are.'

It is this seeming arrogance that annoys me. I agree that there are a lot of plus points to the card but my honest (personal) opinion is that it no longer represents value for money, and that is the acid test for me when deciding whether to keep it or downgrade it.

With very little effort they could get back on track, but they do not seem bothered. (In the UK anyway.)
