Given that First seems to be aiming to emulate the service standards of a reasonably grand restaurant, albeit not one getting a Michelin star any time soon (The Wolseley might be a good benchmark here), I think it pretty poor the cutlery isn't silver.
Incidentally I thought of the Wolseley because of the weird experience I had on my second ever First trip, to TLV just over a year ago. I was sitting near a chap in the CCR, who subsequently turned out to be on my flight and also next to be in the queue at immigration. A couple of days later I saw him again leaving the Tel Aviv Hilton around 8am on Saturday morning just as I was returning back from a club. So far a noticeable but not extraordinary degree of coincidence, but then a week and a half later I was seated almost next to him while back in London breakfasting at my local greasy (silver) spoon, The Wolseley. Never ever seen him before or since, but it has made me think the Wolseley is the preferred breakfasting establishment either for the typical F passenger or of Mossad agents who trail suspicious visitors to Israel.
