I was in 11K on a 777 ex JFK last Friday night. even with earplugs in the engine noise is booming. As has been said, the 777 "dorm" feels like a downgrade versus the 747 for JFK regulars.
I remember the old days when FAs had to shout and you had to shout back in order to be heard. Everything shook including your falsers when the noisy Tyne prop engines got fired up.
