Yes, provided that your travel is continuous (connecting travel with no stopovers, as defined by your fare rules).

AND provided that C class inventory is available on the segments you wish to upgrade. You can upgrade up to three segments, so LHR-MIA, MIA-DFW, DFW-GRU would work.

2. For LHR-DFW-GRU, there is no way I can avoid queuing at immigration (and get a US stamp) at DFW is there? My feeling is that I HAVE to go through immigration and customs.
Nope, the TWOV and ITI programs ended on August 2, 2003.

You will need a valid US visa or ESTA approval if you are eligible to travel to the United States without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).


3. How about luggages on LHR-DFW-GRU? Can I check all bags through (i.e. without the need to pick them up at DFW to clear custom) from LHR to GRU?

Nope, you will need to pick them up at DFW. Luggage ITI is allowed for bags to/from Canada only.
