Hey guys,

So I searched around and got mixed responses on "will SPG do a challenge to Platinum". It sounds like the answer is "maybe", but I'm not calling in until I have a big block of trips ready to booked so I know I can hit it right away (should be January).

Now, if they don't offer me a challenge, it seems silly because I'll just take on a Hilton one and then have SPG match me. So net net, I'll get my starwood platinum status, and diamond status, and will have given my preferred choice (SPG) 0 revenue.

Anyone have any good heart to hearts with SPG reps on something like this? If the rep I get says no, do I try calling back and haggling with the next one or is not even worth it? Honestly, it just seems logical to me to do this given every other hotel does and SPG is willing to match status.
