The menu choices - steaks, fish, chicken cooked various ways, starters like figs with parma ham and blue cheese - all cooked in front of you by a team of chefs who smile and ask: "how would you like that done sir?". OK, you can get that sort of attention at many Sydney restaurants, but in an airline lounge?!?
I asked if they had naked flame, and no they don't - unless a stir fry catches! - but they still manage to turn out terrific food. My 6th visit here and the menu has totally changed yet again, but I asked if they still had the figs I enjoyed last time, and they rustled something up - even better than I remembered.
I'm a big fan of the Concorde Room (even the NY one) and the AA flagship lounge at JFK certainly delivers decent bulk self serve food. The Cathay lounges in Hong Kong are a lovely way to break the journey to Australia with their cabanas and streams and silver service tea.
But when it comes to One World dining, I've yet to experience anything with the wow factor like the Sydney F lounge. Maybe Melbourne F - haven't been there yet!
Is BA Gold status worth chasing? Too bloody right, because it means you can access this lounge, even on a $300 cheapy Y flight to WLG.
Oh, one last point - the massages here are shirt off, oils, how's that for you sir?. None of this electric chair business like in LHR/JFK.
Flying how it should be.

Am I led to believe James that the BA F lounge at SYD is Qantas and code shared with BA. From what you have said about the lounge then am going to enjoy it when leaving SYD in Feb
