Redeeming #1 Award Points is a PC code? What if I wanted to redeem banked points but I need the Underage PC code?

My points haven't yet reached the redemption milestones. But when they do, if I then had to pay an underage surcharge, it would kind of defeat the purpose of a free day, double upgrade, etc.
