Of course the bed is important on overnight flights, but you expect some other treats too.
I fly CW spending my own hard-earned, personal taxed cash about 6 times a year (plus regular Club Europe flights) and find the gradual erosion of the luxury touches by BA both annoying and bad business.
One pays a considerable premium to fly in these classes and it is absoutely daft to remove chocs, magazines or the hand towels (the latter only in Club Europe so far) - which save BA small sums in comparison with the large amounts they are haemorraging from other aspects of running their "business".
I fly BA CW and CE to keep my Exec card and because BA dominates the flight slots out of London, which is where I live.
For the first time, I am starting to look around at what other high end airlines offer long-haul in their premium cabins, as I feel BA is definitely adopting the wrong tactics in Club (I can't comment on First as have never flown it).
If you feel dissatisfied with the product, then looking around is absolutely the right thing to do - and something too few people actually do. I'm just not sure you'll find the grass much greener over at VS and others - everyone's making cuts somewhere. Even Emirates may be needing to have a long hard look at their operations at this point.
