White AmEx is pure speculation, for many Black AmEx is still a myth. Very few know anything about its existense and what it actually entails.

In regards to reactions, I too have found that it has evoked more of a response in the US than in the UK. Only once has someone seriously commmented on it in the UK; it was in Warner Brothers, the shopgirl was in absolute disbelief, she could not believe she was holding a Black AmEx card. Most people simply have no idea what it is which suits me fine. The funniest event though is when you get approached by a credit card company in a shopmall, especially for AmEx Blue or Green, the look on their faces is a real Kodak moment when you have to explain to them that you don't already have an AmEx card. And I don't shop in Harrods or Selfridges anymore!
